CHICAGO—Many Chicago neighborhoods have experienced a residential boom in the last few years, and one company very familiar to city dwellers on the move says the flow of new residents may be increasing. U-Haul analyzed the number of incoming one-way truck rentals versus outgoing rentals for the past calendar year and found more trucks arriving in Chicago than departing, reversing its findings from 2014. In fact, the company ranked Chicago fifth among the top 10 US cities for growth. Rankings were determined by the net gain of incoming one-way U-Haul truck rentals versus outgoing rentals for the past calendar year.

U-Haul locations in Chicago saw 50.6% of one-way truck rental customers coming into the city as opposed leaving in 2015 – a slight shift from 2014 when incoming rentals accounted for less than 49.6% of U-Haul traffic. Furthermore, Chicago saw 10% more U-Haul arrivals year-over-year, while its departures were up 5%.
