BOCA RATON, FL—The Gift of Life Marrow Registry is moving its national headquarters operations to the Sabre Center 1 office building here in early 2019.

The non-profit signed a 17,465-square-foot lease for its new headquarters at the penthouse of 5901 Broken Sound Parkway Northwest. The lease deal was announced by brokerage firm CBRE. John Jaspert, first vice president of CBRE, represented Gift of Life Marrow Registry in the transaction. The landlord, G & C Sabre Centre Investors, LLC., an affiliate of Grover Corlew, was represented by John Criddle and Joe Freitas of Cushman & Wakefield.

The Gift of Life Marrow Registry is a public bone marrow registry in the United States, founded in 1991 by Jay Feinberg, a marrow transplant recipient and leukemia survivor. The non-profit has field staff located in New York City, Boston, Washington, DC and Los Angeles. The firm’s current national headquarters is located in Boca Raton at 800 Yamato Road.

“Gift of Life is aligning their operations with their growth,” says CBRE’s Jaspert. “They needed their physical location to reflect their progress and vision. We are thrilled to have had the rare opportunity to help our client continue on their mission to save more lives.”

“At Gift of Life we believe every person battling blood cancer deserves a second chance at life through a stem cell transplant—and we are determined to make it happen,” Feinberg, the non-profit’s president and CEO, says. “Our new and larger headquarters based in Boca Raton represents our vision for the future, as we implement an in-house stem cell collection center for Gift of Life’s South Florida donors and distant donors alike.”

He adds, “The need for innovative cellular therapies—of which stem cell transplantation has been the pioneering curative treatment—is growing. We are now engaged in an expansion capital campaign with incredible naming opportunities available at the new headquarters, for which we are seeking corporate, philanthropic and foundation sponsors.”

The adjoining Arvida Park of Commerce was renamed the Park at Broken Sound in 2015 as developers begin to build residential units and retail stores at the 700-acre park in Northwest Boca Raton. The name change reflects the new mix of properties including 1,050 units in three multifamily buildings and 65,000 square foot retail project.

The 102,351 square-foot six-story Sabre Centre I office building is a Grover Corlew signature property that has undergone a high-end modernization to the lobby, common areas, elevator and new tenant spaces.

Last month, Grover Corlew leased 23,130 square feet to global hair restoration and replacement firm, Hair Club for Men, which will relocate its corporate offices to Palmetto Place @ Boca Raton, another Grover Corlew property that is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation and rebranding. This is the second headquarters lease in Boca Raton this year for the real estate investment management group.

CBRE South Florida senior managing director Arden Karson says that Boca Raton is one of the most active submarkets in South Florida, seeing its average asking lease rate grow 6% year-over-year. “The area is seeing incredible leasing activity, specifically for large headquarters,” he says. “As office tenants move in and developers continue to bring new retail and multifamily product, the county remains well positioned for unprecedented market growth.”
