Young and Hungry
As a soccer neophyte, I was totally engaged by the World Cup over the past four weeks. Alas, the USA did not make it beyond the “Sweet 16,” but we sure were credible.
However, the lesson learned was in the final three minutes of overtime of the Germany/Argentina final, when Mario Götze, the youngest World Cup scorer since 1966 and, no less, a substitute, scored the winning goal, sealing the victory for Germany.
Think about it. An uber-young substitute scored the winning goal for the global finale!
This made me reflect on our recent experience with undergraduate interns who are engaged, smart, and hungry for the experience, and there to learn.
What’s the connection between Mario Götze and the young interns? Young and hungry. Hire an undergraduate intern next summer.
