MIPIM Conference, Cannes, France
MIPIM, the leading international Real Estate Fair, will take place from March 6 to 9 in Cannes, France. Globest.com will be on hand covering the incredibly comprehensive event.
As the official website reveals, MIPIM’s high-level and diverse conference program provides a complete view of the real estate industry, from investment and financing trends to sustainability and technology. We examine these trends across a range of sectors, from logistics to retail, hotels and tourism.
The event provides business opportunities, networking and learning for commercial real estate professions, this time on a global platform. Participants can, according to the official overview:
-Identify potential partners from among 4,400 investors and occupiers
-Discover promising projects and market trends
-Gather invaluable market insights from top global leaders
-Concentrate a year’s worth business into four intensive days
This year, MIPIM welcomes Germany as its Country of Honour for 2012. A range of dedicated products and services will highlight investment opportunities and projects in Germany and allow top level networking with German key players. As such, the keynote speaker will be former Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor of Germany, Joschka Fischer. In an exclusive conference, he will give his expert vision on the global economy, the EU financial crisis and its impact on real estate investments in Europe.
Last year, GlobeSt.com presented some in-depth and intriguing industry coverage:
Retail Development in Europe is Doing Just Fine
We were standing in the Russian Council of Shopping Centers booth earlier today. We couldn't understand a damn thing they were saying, but then everyone high-fived and popped bottles of wine.
Want US Real Estate? Go to Tier Two
Yogi Berra once talked about a restaurant that was so crowded, no one ate there anymore. Much the same could be said for US gateway cities in terms of investment destinations. If you want opportunities without the crowd, consider the places you haven't so far--and do it before the rest of the world catches on. That was the upshot of a Thursday afternoon session at MIPIM: "US Property Markets: Where Are the Opportunities?"
Can We Survive a Recovery With Issues?
CANNES, FRANCE-It's probably one of the ugliest recoveries we've ever seen. Nouriel Roubini, keynote speaker Thursday morning at MIPIM here, didn't use those exact words. But he could have. And his rather dour assessment of where we are headed--at a snail's pace--dovetailed nicely with a follow-up session on the nature and future of the global distressed marketplace.
UK Investment Remains a Mixed Blessing
CANNES, FRANCE-Asked to define the UK, Joe Valente, head of strategy for Allianz Real Estate, told an assembled crowd that the UK was "an overpriced market on the edge of Europe." In a session that explored the pros and cons of UK investment, the various experts did just that, in a sometimes hot back-and-forth discussion.
CANNES, FRANCE-An opening-day session at MIPIM here on Tuesday featured a cross-border spitting contest and a dose of recovery reality. "Toward a Better Investment Marketplace" featured property pros from Germany, Italy, France, Asia and the UK discussing the need for greater transparency in the post-depression marketplace.

GlobeSt.com Viewers See More C-Suite Turnover
NEW YORK CITY-Nearly two-thirds of respondents to a GlobeSt.com poll said recent high-level resignations either portend more to come or prove that the industry needs to work on succession planning.
