DETROIT-A plan to convert the empty David Whitney Building into apartments, retail and a boutique hotel is moving forward. Developers have contracted Starwood Hotels to brand name the 136-room hotel and the Michigan Economic Growth Authority is intended to consider the project's petition for tax credits that will uphold financing for the project.

Detroit-based Roxbury Group is heading the $82-million project. The David Whitney Building is located at Woodward and Park. The 19-story tower was designed by David Burnham. For the full story, go to The Detroit Free Press .
