ORLANDO-The Lake County zoning board has approved a major residential project on 1,000 acres between the Orange County line south of State Road 50 and U.S. Highway 27. The Avalon Groves project will include more than 1,600 homes and 350,000 square feet of commercial space.

Hearthstone Lake County LLC, a California-based developer, is the behind the residential development. The proposed development still faces a number of obstacles.
