BIRMINGHAM, AL-Summit Hotel Properties Inc., a real estate investment trust based in South Dakota, has inked an agreement to purchase the Hilton Garden Inn in Liberty Park. As reported by a press release, the REIT has agreed to pay $11.9 million for the 130-room hotel.

The purchase amount also includes the hotel's planned improvements. Summit Hotel Properties, which is focusing on premium-branded hotels, owns 71 hotel properties in 19 states. For the full story, go to Birmingham Business Journal .
