LOS ANGELES-As GlobeSt.com exclusively reported yesterday, Carl Muhlstein, vice chairman of capital markets at Cushman & Wakefield of California in the firm’s Downtown Los Angeles office has moved to Jones Lang LaSalle. At the time, neither JLL nor C&W had a comment or any further details, and Muhlstein did not respond to inquiries, but now GlobeSt.com has exclusively learned that he will serve as managing director at JLL and will specialize in creative office space and in working with entertainment firms in L.A.
Muhlstein is joined by senior vice president Hayley Blockley. Muhlstein and Blockley will be based in the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office located at 515 South Flower St. in Los Angeles.
“Entertainment and media are the most active commercial real estate sectors in Los Angeles with continued growing demand for services from users and landlords,” explains Peter Belisle, southwest market director at JLL. “Carl is a legend in this field and we are confident that he will provide tremendous value to our clients.”
Muhlstein tells GlobeSt.com that, "Our move was based on a synergistic strategy to greatly expand our collective client base, offering entertainment-related tenants a wide variety of services. Los Angeles is undergoing a sea change in modes of distribution through new tech and media platforms and is home to celebrities and trend-setters; the fashion, design and branding industries rely on this transformation."
Muhlstein joins Jones Lang LaSalle with more than 25 years of experience in entertainment and creative office real estate providing multiple services including tenant representation, landlord leasing and sales of a wide variety of properties. At Cushman & Wakefield, he was responsible for working with numerous landlords, tenants and investors. In the past five years, he has participated and advised in more than $2 billion of transactions.
C&W has no comment for GlobeSt.com by deadline regarding the move.
According to Alan Aufhammer, a managing director at JLL, “Carl and Hayley provide market leading expertise in a key industry niche that significantly contributes to the growth of our service offering in Los Angeles.” Prior to joining JLL, Blockley served as director of brokerage services and partnered with Muhlstein in representing tenants, landlords and investors with their real estate needs in Los Angeles. In the past five years, Blockley has completed transactions valued at more than $250 million.
