FLUSING, NY-The zoning subcommittee of the City Council has voted to sanction a development project, Flushing Commons, in Queens.

The Flushing Commons project includes commercial space of 400,000 square feet and 600 houses. Peter Koo, a local council member, is supporting this project, while a number of local businesses are opposing it. The opponents have managed to endorse some concessions towards the end of the discussions. Details of the changed plans were not disclosed officially. For the full story, go to NY Observer.
