BOSTON-Lawrence Community Works decided to buy and renovate the four historic buildings named the Newbury & Garden project in the Boston's North Common neighborhood to serve as inexpensive housing development by raising both public and private funds worth $1.9 million.

The funds include $64,000 as HUD lead-paint hazard-control funds and $600,000 as HUD HOME Investment Partnerships Program funding. Other partners included in the project are NeighborWorks America, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Mass Housing Investment Corp. and Enterprise Bank.
