Hoag Health Center Irvine celebrated its official grand opening recently, introducing the community to the latest innovative concept in comprehensive care: the “healthcare village.” The project provides an array of healthcare services such as women’s health and cancer care that complement the acute-care services across the street at Hoag Hospital Irvine.

We spoke exclusively with Smith about the company’s decision to expand here, how the healthcare-village concept works in Irvine and where else in Southern California it might work.
