FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—New development is underway in Pompano Beach as Champion Porsche sets out to build an 8,800-square-foot showroom. Stiles Construction, a division of Stiles, is developing the property.
Located at 500 W. Copans Road, the two-story free standing showroom marks the seventh consecutive project Stiles has built for the Porsche dealer. The project is valued at $4 million.
“The auto Industry is robust,” Tim Moore, president of Stiles Construction, tells GlobeSt.com. “Dealers are having some of the best months for sales than they’ve seen in the past three or four years. The major manufacturers are planning plant expansions and new manufacturing plants are going to be built. This is due to the pent-up demand from the economic slowdown as well as the fact that aging automobiles need to be replaced.”
Case in point: Stiles is currently building two Volkswagen showrooms, two Kia showroom, and has a Buick/GMC in design. Stiles also just completed a renovation to a Nissan dealership and renovations to a Buick/GMC and Acura dealership underway. A Hyundai, two Subaru and a Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealerships are in the conceptual design phase.
Moore attributes part of this growth to the new image standards being implemented by several major dealers industry wide. The standards are geared towards modernizing showrooms and service areas to maximize the customer experience, including amenities such as customer lounges with Wi-Fi.
“Understanding the manufacturers’ requirements and delivering them at an reasonable price to the dealers is the challenge,” Moore says. “Knowledge of the flow the dealer requires, tight time constraints and types of specific services to include, such as lounges and boutiques, which become very important due to the revenue they bring, is another challenge.”
Stiles seems up to the job. Over the past two decades, Stiles Construction has built dealerships for virtually every major automotive manufacturer. The company has built and renovated nearly 7.5 million square feet for the automotive industry.
