ATLANTA-A total of 10 architectural and design teams have answered an RFP for the project to build a new Georgia Dome here. The Atlanta Falcons Stadium Company, LLC and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority recently issued the RFP for the stadium project.
Last month, the two entities voted to move forward with building the new stadium that would be home to the Atlanta Falcons and other sports, convention and entertainment events. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2017.
The Atlanta Falcons would kick in $700 million, while $300 million in hotel/motel taxes would be tapped to pay off an estimated $1-billion construction loan for the new stadium that would feature a retractable roof. See story in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
