The ambitious mixed-use development still awaits the right tenant.

FAIRFIELD, CT-The ambitious $500-million Fairfield Metro Center project is still waiting for the “right tenant.”

One year after the adjoining Fairfield Metro Center railroad station was opened, construction has not begun on the 1-million-sf Fairfield Metro Center mixed-use project.

Developer Kurt Wittek of Blackrock Realty, LLC says his firm is looking for an anchor tenant for the development. He notes that the predominant industry in Fairfield County is financial services, which got hit hard by the recession.

The 35-acre project calls for 1 million sf of office space, a hotel, residential apartments and 30,000 sf of retail space. Blackrock is a joint venture of Stamford, CT-based Wittek Development and Rugby Realty Co. Inc. of New Rochelle, NY. See story in the Fairfield County Business Journal.
