NEW YORK CITY-Thomas V. Bermingham, a 30-year industry veteran, has joined USAA Real Estate Co. as managing director of investments. He’s based out of USAA Real Estate’s newly opened Northeast regional office here, and will oversee acquisition, development and joint venture opportunities in key markets in the region, according to a release.
Bermingham’s track record includes 11 years as executive managing director for Insignia Financial Group, later acquired by CBRE. He oversaw Insignia’s New Jersey branch before directing all international corporate services between the US and Europe from London.
Most recently, Bermingham was SVP of Patrinely Group, an affiliate of Crimson Real Estate Fund LP, leading its acquisition team and supervising development in the Northeast. USAA Real Estate is a significant investor in CREF, a real estate opportunity fund.
In a statement, San Antonio-based USAA Real Estate CEO Pat Duncan notes that Bermingham has been “a valuable source of business for USAA through his experience and knowledge of Northeast markets. We believe he will add tremendous value to our organization in the coming years.”
Bruce Petersen, USAA Real Estate’s executive managing director, real estate investments, adds that Bermingham will be “a strong addition to our acquisition team, and the opening of an office in the New York metropolitan area will increase our investment activity both there and in New England.”
