TALLAHASSEE, FL-Florida Gov. Rick Scott is seeking to provide tax incentives that will help manufacturers grow and create new jobs in the state.
The governor announced that he would seek legislative approval of a new sales tax exemption for manufacturing’s that buy industrial equipment and machinery, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
“We have 17,500 manufacturing companies in Florida today that employ more than 300,000 Florida families,” Scott said in a statement. “In the upcoming legislative session, we are committed to building up Florida manufacturing jobs by eliminating the tax barriers on companies who purchase equipment.”
He adds that the tax incentive would eliminate barriers to investment for the manufacturing sector and would also benefit the state’s ports and small business sector. See story in the Miami Herald.
