ORLANDO, FL-New York City-based Loews Hotels & Resorts and Universal Parks & Resorts broke ground last week on Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort project here.

Company officials say that the resort, scheduled to open next year, will feature 900 family suites and 900 guest rooms. The facility is one of the largest hotels currently under construction in the United States. The property is being built on a 37-acre site within the Universal Orlando resorts and sits adjacent to Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

“The Orlando resort market and our partners at Universal are a fundamental part of our business,” says Jonathan Tisch, chairman of Loews Hotels & Resorts in a press release distributed on Business Wire. “Universal Orlando is a beloved family destination and this new development will allow more families to enjoy the attractions and experience the unique theme parks.”

Loews officials stated that the Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the fourth hotel in partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts. See story on Business Wire.
