HOUSTON-Skanska has signed the first lease for its new Galleria-area high-rise.
Datacert Inc., a 15-year-old Houston-based legal management solutions company, signed a long-term agreement in the building, 3009 Post Oak Blvd. It is one of which is one of two skyscrapers under construction in the submarket, which has not had any new construction since 1983. The building will total 302,000-square-feet.
According to the Houston Business Journal, Datacert will relocate its corporate headquarters from its current location, which is nearby. Datacert will occupy more than 49,000 square feet on the 10th and 11th floors of the 20-story building.
Skanska USA Commercial Development acquired the site in October 2009 and is self-financing 100 percent of the development costs. The project is on track to deliver this summer and is precertified LEED Platinum, the only speculative office building of this level outside the central business district in Houston.
“Datacert has grown significantly over the past few years, increasing our workforce an average of 25 percent annually, and we’re anticipating an additional 25 percent increase in 2013 as we expand our product portfolio and enter new strategic markets,” Datacert CFO Alan Harding said in a statement.
Datacert had 140 employees as of year-end 2011, according to the HBJ’s 2013 Book of Lists.
