CLARKSBURG, MD-Adventist Health Care is in negotiations to sell a 40-acre parcel that at one time was to be the site of a new hospital and medical campus here.
According to a report in the Washington Post, a number of shopping center developers are vying for the property located off Interstate 270 near the intersection of Clarksburg Road.
The parcel is part of a total of a 120-acre site that Adventist had hoped to build Clarksburg Hospital and Medical Campus. However, the Maryland Health Care Commission rejected the proposal and instead approved Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown, MD, that is now being built. An Adventist spokesman told the newspaper that it still planned to build a medical center in Clarksburg. See story in the Washington Post.
“Adventist HealthCare has had discussions with residents, the business community and Montgomery County about selling a portion—approximately 40 acres—of our Clarksburg land off Interstate 270,” Adventist spokesman Thomas Grant stated. “We are in negotiations regarding this portion of our property and cannot comment further.” See story in the Washington Post.
