WASHINGTON, DC-If you don’t like the proposed changes to the building code in Washington, DC you have until late February to air your grievances.

DC government has extended the public comment period until Feb. 22 on 12 new code section changes. The previous deadline for comment was Jan. 25, according to a report in the Washington Business Journal.

Most of the changes are based on the International Code Council‘s 2012 rulebook and include many changes to the existing codes, particularly involving green construction. The code changes could be in place by the summer of this year, but enforcement of the new regulations will likely not begin until 2014. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
