NEW YORK CITY-Veteran multifamily broker Peter Von Der Ahe, a mainstay of Marcus & Millichap‘s investment sales force here for the past decade, has been added to the national team of Institutional Property Advisors, a special division of Marcus & Millichap formed two years ago to serve institutional and major private investors. Von Der Ahe, who’s bringing his team of six brokerage professionals, will be a senior director and will lead the IPA New York team.

“Peter and his team will play a critical role in the expansion of our national platform through his New York City-based client relationships and our further penetration of the vast New York market locally,” says Brian Murdy, IPA’s national director. “His real estate consulting background at Arthur Andersen, transactional expertise and long-term client relationships are well-aligned with the advisory platform IPA has built over the last two years.”

Hessam Nadji, Marcus & Millichap’s managing director, who oversees the firm’s IPA division, adds that bringing Von Der Ahe onto the team is “a critical part of our strategy plan to expand our collaborative national platform, which is designed specifically to service major apartment investors.”

Von Der Ahe has brokered more than $730 million in apartment sales since the start of his career, with $360 million of that occurring in the past three years alone. He joined Marcus & Millichap’s Manhattan office as an associate in 2002 from the New York City office of Arthur Andersen’s Real Estate Consulting Group.

He rose to first VP, investments, last January, and is director of the firm’s National Multi Housing Group and Special Assets Services. During his time with Marcus & Millichap, Von Der Ahe has earned six National Achievement Awards and eight Sales Recognition Awards, joining the company’s exclusive Chairman’s Club in 2012.
