ATLANTIC CITY, MJ-Lt. Gov Kim Guadagno told a conference of defense and engineering contractors last week that New Jersey will look to simplify and modernize its contract bidding process.
Among the planned improvements will be to allow only online applications. The changes come as many contractors are seeking opportunities in connection with billions of dollars in state and military repair work in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Current bid opportunities are accessible online, but the state continues to accept a good amount of paper bids as well, according to The Record.
The Lieutenant Governor informed representatives of approximately 50 companies seeking work that the state is preparing to implement a privately designed management system that would end paper applications for state contracts. See story in The Record.
