ATLANTIC CITY, NJ-The Atlantic Club Hotel and casino filed a notice with the state of 1,729 worker layoff, but said the notice was a legal formality that is required as part of a pending sale.

Rational Group, the parent company of online gambling companies PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, has agreed to buy the Atlantic Club from Resorts International Holdings, according to the Press of Atlantic City. Terms of the sale have not been disclosed.

Atlantic Club COO Michael Frawley issued a statement that the casino had to file the layoff notice with the New Jersey Department of Labor under the state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. The filing stated that 1,729 workers at the Atlantic club could lose their jobs as of March 29. Frawley told the newspaper that there is a “definitive agreement” for Resorts International Holdings to sell the casino and no shutdown or mass layoffs are planned.
