ANNAPOLIS, MD-The State of Maryland is expected to invite bids this week from firms interested in operating a Prince George’s County casino.
Last week, a state panel approved a request for proposals for a casino operator that would be located in an area that includes National Harbor on the Potomac River; and Rosecroft Raceway a horse track in Fort Washington.
A few months ago Maryland voters approved Question 7, a measure that authorizes a sixth Maryland casino and allows previously designated slots locations to add table games, such as blackjack and roulette, according to the Washington Post.
Donald C. Fry, chairman of the Video Lottery Location Commission that picks casino locations, said he hopes to name a winning bidder by the end of the year. The earliest a Prince George’s location is likely to open is 2016. See story in the Washington Post.
