WHITE PLAINS, NY-Laurence P. Gottlieb, director of the Office of Economic Development for Westchester County since 2010, announced his resignation Thursday to accept the position of president and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. effective Feb. 25.
The Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation is an economic development agency based in New Windsor, NY that serves seven counties: Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan.
“Our loss is the region’s gain,” says Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino said. “Businesses large and small benefited from Larry’s expertise and energy, which helped them grow even in challenging economic times. Going forward we will continue to work together on projects that benefit Westchester and the entire Hudson Valley region.”
Effective Feb. 15, Eileen Mildenberger, executive director of the Westchester County Industrial Development Agency, will also serve as interim director of the Office of Economic Development. The county will actively be looking for a permanent director of economic development, county officials say.
“This was not an easy decision,” Gottlieb says. “I take great pride in the work the Office of Economic Development has accomplished under the leadership of County Executive Astorino. It has been an incredible pleasure working alongside some of the finest professionals in his administration. I look forward to continuing my support of the county’s economic development efforts in my new position.”
