PHILADELPHIA-Developer Ken Goldenberg calls his Market8 casino project “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to profoundly transform an enormous swath of the city and one of its most important corridors.”
Goldenberg, founder, president and CEO of the Goldenberg Group based in Blue Bell, PA, detailed plans last week for his $500-million project at Eighth and Market streets that would include a casino, 12-story-hotel, concert hall, dance club and restaurants, according to The Inquirer. The property is currently a parking lot owned by the developer, who hopes his venture will revitalize that section of the city that is in need of new development.
“We’re not trying to build a complex that will be an island to itself,” Goldenberg says. “But rather, something that will interact integrally with the entire community and act as a catalyst to enhance and improve everything around it.”
The Goldenberg Group is one of six applicants who have filed plans with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for Philadelphia’s second casino license. See story in The Inquirer.
