MIAMI-The state of Florida remained the top state for foreclosure activity last month, according to data released by RealtyTrac.

The Irvine, CA-based firm reports that Florida earned the top spot for foreclosures for the fifth consecutive month with one in every 300 homes in Florida receiving some form of foreclosure filing in January, according to the Miami Herald.

Six metro areas in Florida were among the top 10 in the U.S., including Ocala at number one with one in every 223 homes in foreclosure, while the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach area secured the number two position in foreclosure activity with one in every 228 homes receiving a foreclosure notice of some kind in January.
