PORT WASHINGTON, NY-A Bronx-based wholesale produce distributor has acquired a warehouse distribution facility at 99 Seaview Blvd. here, according to Jones Lang LaSalle.

Jones Lang represented the seller of the 160,000-square-foot building that sits on nine acres. Phillip and Carl DelPrete, owners of R-Best Produce, which is relocating operations from the Bronx to the facility in Nassau County, purchased the building. No terms of the transaction were released.

Joseph Lagano II, associate, and Douglas Omstrom and Thomas DiMicelli, senior vice presidents with Jones Lang LaSalle worked on the deal for the sellers, 99 Seaview LLC The buyers were represented by Feinberg Bros. Agency Inc.

“We became aware of R-Best Produce’s interest in the facility in October through our relationship with Feinberg Bros., which had been exploring properties throughout the New York and New Jersey metropolitan region with R-Best for more than a year,” says Lagano. “Working together, we were able to complete the sale in just two months. The seller was eager to complete the transaction in 2012, before any changes to tax laws could take effect.”

He adds that R-Best Produce will keep the warehouse space for its own use, bringing more than 50 new jobs to the area around Port Washington. The company received an inducement package from the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency that includes a property tax abatement and other incentives.
