PORTLAND, OR—The firm of Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects LLP has been picked to design the new Multnomah County Health Department downtown headquarters.

The Multnomah County Commission chose ZGF for the $2.53 million contract from a pool of 15 candidates, reports the Portland Business Journal.  The bid includes architectural, health care specialty, interior and landscape design. ZGF will also perform structural engineering and plumbing work, as well as LEED prep for the structure.

The 90,000-square-foot building on Northwest Sixth Avenue will sit across from the Bud Clark Commons in downtown’s Old Town-Chinatown neighborhood. The county health department has outgrown its current headquarters.
