SILVER SPRING, MD-A land-use blueprint that seeks to establish the White Oak section of the county as a hub for medical and life science research was approved by the Montgomery County Planning Board here on Thursday.
In a unanimous vote, the board sent “The White Oak Science Gateway Master Plan” to the County Council and Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett for approval.
The anchor of the initiative would be “LifeSci Village,” a joint venture of Percontee Inc. and county government. Percontee (formerly Contee Sand & Gravel Inc. is a diversified company that has been owned and operated by the Gudelsky family since 1913). The master plan also calls for the redevelopment of the White Oak Shopping Center and an area along New Hampshire Avenue. See story in the Washington Post.
