SAN FRANCISCO-The Mark Company, has been appointed by developer Lennar Urban to oversee the residential branding and design of the San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Point, a multibillion-dollar, 775-acre development located along nine miles of the San Francisco waterfront.

In addition, the Mark Company has been named the exclusive marketing and sales firm for the first release of urban homes at The San Francisco Shipyard.  Construction is underway on the project, with initial occupancy slated for summer 2014.

“We are excited to provide our expertise to the residential branding and design of The San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Point, which will transform the entire southeast corner of San Francisco and provide much needed housing to the region,” said Alan Mark, founder and president of the Mark Company.

The largest redevelopment effort in San Francisco since the 1906 earthquake, the project includes entitlements for 12,000 homes, along with 3.15 million square feet of office and research & development space, 885,000 square feet of retail, 100,000 square feet of community facilities. There will be a 2,000- to 3,000-seat performance venue, and more than 325 acres of parks and open space, with easy access to downtown via new public transportation options.

San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee has called The San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Point, which encompasses the largest remaining tract of developable land in San Francisco, “one of the most important development projects in our city’s history.”

The San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Point will be on the forefront of sustainable “green” development practices. The community is pre-certified LEED-ND Gold from the U.S. Green Building Council.
