FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—As it works to beef up its net lease business, Calkain has added new talent to the South Florida mix. Lee Brushingham has signed on as director of its Fort Lauderdale, FL office.
Brushingham brings 15 years of commercial real estate experience to Calkain. Interestingly enough, he ventured into commercial real estate after practicing dentistry for 13 years.
“I am truly excited to have Lee join our team,” says Patrick Nutt, managing partner of Calkain’s South Florida. “He brings extensive experience working both the seller and buyer sides of transactions. Complementing his transactional work is Lee’s holistic understanding of the development process from concept to completion.”
Brushingham launched his commercial real estate career at NAI Rauch, Weaver, Norfleet, Kurtz & Co. He quickly becoming a top producer.
After a number of successful years he joined in a partnership and co-founded the firm of Sperry Van Ness Commercial Realty, brokering transactions in retail, office, land development, industrial, and multifamily. He has syndicated a number of development and redevelopment real estate partnerships, overseeing the overall acquisition, disposition, and redevelopment.
After 10 years as a principal at Sperry, Lee decided to focus his efforts in the net lease industry exclusively by joining Calkain. Lee has a reputation for handling complex transactions, negotiating the best possible position for his clients, and then getting the deal closed. His resume includes representation of sellers and buyers in the industrial, retail office, and development areas.
Lee is a Florida native and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, a doctorate’s degree from Emory University, and completed post-graduate residency training at the University of Texas. He lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife and two children, enjoys fishing, golf and fatherhood.
