BALTIMORE—Spice company McCormick & Co. has expanded its headquarters office search to include pretty much the entire Mid-Atlantic states.
The Sparks, MD-based company is reportedly studying properties of between 300,000 square feet to 350,000 square feet in Maryland, Delaware, Southern Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia. The search area is considerably larger than what McCormick CEO Alan Wilson discussed in March, according to the Baltimore Business Journal. Back in March Wilson said McCormick wanted to remain “as close as we possibly can” to the company’s Baltimore County headquarters.
McCormick issued a “request for information” through its real estate consultant, CBRE Group Inc. The document shows McCormick is open to moving into either a single building or campus and would be open to move out of the state of Maryland.
There has been speculation in some circles that McCormick would consider sites in the southern regions of Pennsylvania, but the firm’s interest in locations in Northern Virginia indicates the headquarters study has expanded further.
McCormick employs approximately 700 workers in four buildings in Sparks and Hunt Valley, MD. The company wants to move into its new headquarters space by April 2018. See story in the Baltimore Business Journal.
