HAWTHORNE, CA—ThinKom, a provider of broadband antenna and product solutions has signed a 74,716-square-foot lease at the OceanGate Business Park in Hawthorne, CA. The new space will serve as the companies headquarters, including office, testing and light assembly facilities, which was formerly located in Torrance, CA.
Located at 4881 W. 145th St., the new headquarters location will be a class-A facility with low profile, high mobile antennae systems that will help meet the company’s long-term growth goals. Before choosing this location, ThinKom conducted an extensive market analysis with brokers Chris Strickfaden of JLL and Mark Mattis of PM Realty Group, who represented the tenant in the transaction. They found that this was the best location for the company to expand and bring some of its manufacturing procedures in house.
“ThinKom’s move from 24,000 square feet in Torrance in a mostly office flex building to a much more expansive 74,000-square-foot converted industrial project was necessitated by its growth across all product lines and the desire to bring some light manufacturing that had previously been outsourced under its direct control and supervision,” Strickfaden tells GlobeSt.com, adding that one of ThinKom’s clients is GOGO in Flight, which uses the company’s ‘thin antennae” technology on many of GOGO in Flight’s major airline customers to offer real time wifi.
ThinKom will take occupancy on December 1 of this year. Britt Shuford of SCO Advisors represented the landlord, St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance, in the transaction.
There has been some shifting of headquarters recently in the Los Angeles market. Also formerly based in Torrance, CA, Toyota recently announced plans to slowly move its North American headquarters to Dallas, TX. The move will take three years and displace approximately 2 million square feet of space.
