LOS ANGELES—AECOM Technology Corp. has announced plans to acquire Hunt Construction Co. in a move that will continue to expand the company’s construction services footprint. The transaction is expected to close in October of this year and would give AECOM pro forma 2013 revenues of $20 billion.

“The acquisition of Hunt accelerates our strategy to be a premier, fully integrated service provider—able to design, build, finance and operate infrastructure projects,” Michael S. Burke, president and CEO of AECOM, tells GlobeSt.com.

Hunt Construction Co. has 700 employees, nine US offices and had $1.2 billion in revenues last year. The combined company will have 95,000 employees with offices in 150 countries worldwide. The purchase price of the transaction was not disclosed. “In addition to expanding our existing construction services business, Hunt’s capabilities complement AECOM’s design and architecture expertise in key sectors such as sports, airports and health care,” says Burke. “What is most exciting to us is that we are able to leverage this expertise across our global platform.”

The purchase of Hunt Construction Co. is part of AECOM’s ongoing expansion. The company recently also entered into an agreement to purchase the outstanding shares of URS Corp. for $56.31, which amounts to $4 billion. Because the URS transaction is underway, the Hunt transaction is subject to approval of both AECOM and URS stockholders.
