TAMPA, FL—Larry Richey, senior managing director and Florida market leader at Cushman & Wakefield, as inducted into the NAIOP Tampa Bay Hall of Fame. He received the recognition at the organization’s 16th Annual Best of the Best Awards.

“The NAIOP Tampa Bay Hall of Fame recognizes those distinguished individuals who through their vision, leadership and lifetime achievements have helped shape the commercial real estate industry in West Central Florida,” Kelsey Bokor, executive director of NAIOP Tampa Bay, tells GlobeSt.com. “This is a fitting honor for someone who has poured his heart and soul into making this community a better place to work and live.”

NAIOP Tampa Bay is the area’s leading trade organization representing developers, owners, investors and other professionals in commercial real estate. With the Hall of Fame induction, NAIOP is acknowledging Richey’s contributions to commercial real estate and the Tampa region during his 35-year career with Cushman & Wakefield.

“Larry has been an invaluable member of the real estate community in Tampa Bay and member of NAIOP for the past 25-plus years,” Owen LaFave, NAIOP Tampa Bay president and senior vice president at The Bank of Tampa, tells GlobeSt.com. “He is a gentlemen and has always conducted himself with a high degree of integrity in all of his dealings. We are honored to call him a NAIOP member and friend.”

Richey was the 2008 Chairman of the Committee of 100—Tampa & Hillsborough County’s Economic Development Corporation—and is the immediate past board chair for the Tampa Downtown Partnership. He is also active on the board of Friends of the Riverwalk and is past Board President of the Florida Gulfcoast Commercial Association of Realtors (FGCAR).

“I am humbled to be recognized with such an incredible honor,” Richey tells GlobeSt.com. “But this is truly a team award. Throughout my career I’ve had tremendous support from my colleagues at Cushman & Wakefield and my peers in the Tampa Bay market. None of this is possible without them.”

Rickey is professionally affiliated with Florida State University’s College of Business and Real Estate Executive Board, the University of Florida Real Estate Advisory Board, NAIOP, the CEO Council of Tampa Bay, and the Real Estate Investment Council. In 2014, he was honored with FGCAR’s Henry H. Blanton Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I’ve witnessed tremendous growth in our community and industry during the last three decades, and I think much of that can be traced back to organizations like NAIOP, which continually foster education and innovation,” says Richey.

He oversees Cushman & Wakefield’s Florida operations, which includes offices in Tampa, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Stuart and Ocala. Under Richey’s leadership, the firm’s Florida offices consistently rank at or near the top in their respective regions in terms of market share.

Before joining Cushman & Wakefield in 1981, Richey was a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Atlanta. He is also an attorney and an inactive member of the Georgia Bar. Richey received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Florida State University and his Juris Doctorate degree from Georgia State University.
