919 Third Avenue Bloomberg has boosted its presence at SL Green Realty Corp.’s 919 Third Ave. to 458,998 square feet.
NEW YORK CITY—About 15 months after signing its original lease at SL Green Realty Corp.’s 919 Third Ave., media giant Bloomberg has nearly doubled its presence at the Midtown office tower. The city’s largest office landlord reports that Bloomberg has signed an expansion lease covering 204,442 square feet at the 1.5-million-square-foot, 47-story office building. The deal at the property that spans the entire block between East 55th and 56th streets increases Bloomberg’s presence at the property to 458,998 square feet. SL Green announced the original 15-year lease deal with Bloomberg in April 2015 that totaled 254,556 square feet (eight floors). The new lease, which has a term that runs through February 2029, covers the entire fifth through ninth floors and part of the 11th floor. Meanwhile, the landlord—which is a REIT—also reports today that Omnicom Group has signed a renewal lease covering 64,111 square feet at the News Building at 220 E. 42nd St. The 15-year renewal for the entire ninth floor is in addition to Omnicom’s recent renewal of 167,003 square feet announced in January, and increases its total long term commitment at the property to 231,114 square fee Of the Bloomberg renewal, SL Green director of leasing and real property Steven Durels says, “This transaction underscores the healthy leasing activity that we have seen in the Midtown market. We are delighted that Bloomberg selected 919 Third Ave. to satisfy their expansion needs.” Craig Reicher, Howard Fiddle, Chris Mansfield and Chris Corrinet of CBRE represented Bloomberg, while SL Green negotiated the transaction in-house. At the News Building, other notable tenants include WPIX TV, Tribune Company, The United Nations and Martin Clearwater & Bell. The 1.2-million-square-foot property stands 37 stories tall. Lee Feld of Feld Real Estate represented Omnicom in the transaction while SL Green acted on its own behalf.
