LOS ANGELES—Restaurant development is back. The hybrid retail and hospitality sector has been credited with recharging the retail market, and now, it seems that it is fueling ground-up development, according to Bill Wilhelm, president of R.D. Olson Construction in this exclusive interview. R.D. Olson construction is looking to get pick up some of this additional business—for the right client—as new construction hotel projects are beginning to dry up.

“Restaurant development is back on board. We are starting to see a lot more restaurant activity, which means that people are spending money,” Wilhelm tells GlobeSt.com. “We were known as a restaurant builder for a number of years throughout the country, and we were one of the top three restaurant builders. We were doing higher end restaurants, but restaurants had deteriorated.”
