The Bloc’s New Metro Station Opens

LOS ANGELES—The crown jewel to the Ratkovich Co.’s downtown retail development The Bloc has opened. Yesterday, the developer and City leaders gathered at the property to celebrate the unveiling a $9.3 million pedestrian passageway that connects the 7th Street/Metro Center Station to the retail campus. The new passageway will greatly increase access to the station and provides direct public transit access to the property.

Among those in attendance at the unveiling was Wayne Ratkovich, president of the Ratkovich Co., John Fasana, Metro Board Chair and Duarte City Councilmember, Jose Huizar, Councilmember and Phillip A. Washington, Metro CEO. “The Bloc’s direct connection to the most vibrant Metro hub in Los Angeles will provide yet another reason for Angelenos to get out of their cars and into the Metro.  The Bloc’s newly created stores, office building and hotel will draw more people into the heart of the city, helping to generate more commercial activity and establishing a true 24-hour center in Downtown LA,” said Jeffrey J. Kanne, president and CEO of National Real Estate Advisors, at the event.
