CUPERTINO, CA—The city council recently approved redevelopment plans that will transform the older apartment property, The Hamptons on Pruneridge Avenue near Wolfe Road and the 280 Freeway, into modern apartment homes. The community will also include 71 affordable units, an 108% increase in affordable housing at The Hamptons, and generate more than $65 million in community benefits and fees.

The agreement provides the community with $11.7 million for city parks and a voluntary $7 million contribution to assist in funding a civic facility to be identified by the Cupertino city council. In addition, there will be a voluntary $1.8 million contribution to extend a recycled water line to serve the community, reducing the use of potable water and bringing available recycled water to other areas of Cupertino. A one-time fee of more than $2.4 million will go to the Santa Clara Unified School District, as well as a matching voluntary contribution of a $2.4 million and an ongoing annual fee of $579,000.
