"We see funding from multiple sources coming together in 2002," says Dale Galassie, executive director of the Lake County Health Department. "We're using our creative energy to make this project work without using any local tax dollars."
The new clinic will replace a facility at 701 W. 10th St. in this far north suburb. Ground breaking is expected this spring in hopes of a January 2003 occupancy. The agency started its search for a new site more than a year ago.
In 2000, the existing facility served 5,760 patients who made 11,208 visits. "We are excited and extremely pleased that the Lake County Health Department has moved in the right direction with its proposal to construct a primary care facility in North Chicago," says North Chicago Mayor Bette Thomas.
