The deal made it through the due diligence and closing plus garnered OKs from the Watauga municipal entities in just 60 days, Greg McDonald, executive vice president of the Weitzman Group in Dallas, tells GlobeSt.com. He and Weitzman's John Mathes and Chris Thomas negotiated the transaction.
McDonald is keeping the closing price under wraps, but did say the repeat buyer got "a good deal because we had a history with them." It is the second such deal between Goodwill and seller Flatiron Cambria I. The super store will be patterned after the Hurst property, which is designed with specialty boutiques for plus sizes, designer labels, new products and coffee bar.
McDonald says a store in Abilene will be the next Food Lion transaction to close. The only other store outside Dallas-Fort Worth is situated Pasadena, which has attracted some lookers but no option as yet. The balance of the Texas disposition package has one store each in the cities of Euless, North Richland Hills, Irving and Cedar Hill and two stores in Fort Worth.
