Kelly McAndrew, spokesperson for the New York-based company, tells GlobeSt.com that Pepsi's lease was up at its 58,000-sf facility and it is the company's standard practice to evaluate its location whenever it is time to renew a lease. "We view the Canton area as a more efficient facility to serve our customers," she says.

The North Allston location was purchased by Harvard University over a year ago from WGBH-TV but McAndrew says that the change in ownership had nothing to do with their move, despite local published reports that Harvard would not give Pepsi a long term lease.

"We didn't even attempt to renew our lease," says McAndrew. "[Harvard] has been terrific to work with. They worked with us and ensured that all our needs were met."

Pepsi plans to move into its new location this fall.
