The rail link is a subsidiary of the seller, The Broe Companies. "(Arro Corp.) already had a relationship with Chicago Rail Link, and they needed a rail-served building," Cushman & Wakefield senior director Walter Murphy in a statement. "The use of the rail as well as the excess land, which will allow for growth, made this a perfect marriage."
Murphy represented The Broe Companies with associate Scott Anderson.
Despite a faltering economy that has helped increase the amount of vacant industrial space across the market, companies in the various facets of the food industry have fared well, Murphy observes. "We have seen increased demand from food companies over the last 12 months," he says. "And because food and beverage companies generally use rail, we've tracked a corresponding increase in demand for rail-served assets."
