A tentative groundbreaking is scheduled for the fall with completion expected by second quarter 2005, according to city planning department staffers. Lowe's two-year-old store is at 13657 US 441. The Wilkesboro, NC retailer has another Leesburg, FL area store at 95540 US 441, about two miles from a Home Depot center.
At Lady Lake, one of the fastest-growing communities in the US according to the 2002 Census, Home Depot will be building its newest center on 22 acres at Rolling Acres Road. A 35,000-sf garden center will be part of the 140,000-sf location. Home Depot will offer shoppers a surface parking lot for 548 vehicles, according to the stores filed preliminary plans.
The new store will create about 150 full-time and part-time positions, according to city officials. Home Depot previously announced it plans to open 15 stores in Florida in 2004.
