Black Hawk's 21 casinos produced $43.9 million in AGP in February, up from $42.4 million in both January and February 2004. Cripple Creek's 19 casinos generated $12 million in AGP in February, up from almost $11.6 million in January and $10.8 million in February 2004. Central City's five casinos hit $6 million, unchanged from January, but up a whopping 44.2% from February in the prior year. A new road from Interstate 70 connects to Central City, allowing gamblers and visitors access from the other side.
In February, Black Hawk casinos accounted for 70.8% of the statewide market; Cripple Creek casinos 19.5%; and Central City casinos 9.7%. Statewide, casinos paid a total of $9.2 million in gaming tax proceeds, up from nearly $8.8 million in January, according to the Colorado Division of Gaming.
