BOSTON-The Boston Redevelopment Authority has approved a $75-million project that will add a second phase to Crosstown Center, a nine-story, 180,000-sf office building with retail space that will be built in Roxbury. The project, which includes a 600-car parking garage, will be built over the next two years. It will be near the 175-room Hampton Inn & Suites hotel, which opened in June 2004 adjacent to Boston Medical Center on Melnea Cass Boulevard.
The project's $65-million first phase also included a 650-car parking facility and 23,000 sf of retail space along with the hotel. The plans call for Brigham and Women's Hospital to take 100,000 sf in the building with 50,000 sf reserved for Boston University. Two retailers, Quizno's Subs and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, have already signed on to take space in the ground floor retail space and Dunkin' Donuts and the Ground Round Grill and Bar are expected to move in as well.
The project is being spearheaded by developer Kirk Sykes and Corcoran Jennison Cos. Once completed, the complex will total 282,000 sf of office space, 60,000 sf of retail and space for 1,250 cars.
