The 250-room Custom Hotel, at the southwest corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Manchester Avenue in Westchester, was designed by mid-20th Century architect Welton Beckett. Beckett is known for designing a number of high-profile Los Angeles landmarks, including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Capitol Records building and the Cinerama Dome.

Palisades is completely renovating the 12-floor Custom Hotel property, which it acquired last year, and is adding a host of amenities including a stadium sun deck, an outdoor heated pool and poolside tapas bar, a fire pit and a DJ lounge. Brosh says that the refurbished hotel will cater to customers "looking for great design at a modest price."

Palihouse West Hollywood is the first of four new Palisades properties that the firm describes as "urban boutique, long-stay hotels and residences," with the other three planned for Hollywood, Venice and Palm Springs. The West Hollywood property will feature a mix of 16 fully furnished condominiums and 21 hotel guest suites and will be designed in what Palisades calls "classic New Orleans style" with a European feel.

The Palihouse West Hollywood will include a restaurant, bar, lounge, a courtyard brasserie and other amenities. The condominiums will range from 800 sf to 1,900 sf and in addition to luxury furnishings and amenities will offer concierge, butler, maid, handyman and other services. Prices are expected to start at $750,000.

Besides the Custom and the Palihouse, locally based Palisades Development has a number of other projects either under way or planned. Among these is a conversion and restoration of the historic 100,000-sf Equitable office building in Hollywood into residential and office condominiums in a project called the Lofts @ Hollywood and Vine.

The Equitable building is at 6253 Hollywood Blvd., at the storied intersection of Hollywood and Vine. Palisades is converting it into 60 residential units and five office condos.
