The largest of the four is the $19.8-million Granada Garage and Office Building, in Downtown Santa Barbara adjacent to the historic Santa Barbara Courthouse. It is a 225,000-sf structure that will include the main parking facility for the Granada Theater when the theater reopens in the fall of this year.

The Granada project comprises 10,000 sf of office space and 572 parking spaces, with the office space occupied by the several departments of the City of Santa Barbara. It was designed by the Watry Design Group of Redwood City.

The McCarthy work includes two projects on the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital campus, one called the Pueblo Parking Structure and the other the Knapp. The Pueblo is an $11.7-million, 201,000-sf facility on four levels with 633 parking spaces for hospital visitors, volunteers, physicians and employees, plus a coffee shop and deli area that will open later this year.

The Pueblo project is the first completed structure in a $550-million rebuilding campaign for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. It was designed by Parkitects/Wayne Banks & Associates of Irvine.

During construction, McCarthy removed 1,600 tons of recyclable material during demolition of the office buildings and residences that previously occupied the site at the corner of Pueblo and Castillo streets. The project also included the removal and preservation of 20 trees, which were transplanted back to the site after completion, as well as the protection of 14 trees in their original locations.

The other project on the hospital campus, the Knapp structure, is an $11-million facility that is slated to open early this summer. Located behind the Knapp Medical Office Building, the five-level, 535-stall facility was designed by Parkitects on a site that previously was occupied by a parking lot that served the Knapp Building.

The fourth project is a $12-million facility called the San Clemente Parking Structure at the University of California at Santa Barbara that will provide 785 spaces for the university's new San Clemente Student Housing Project. The 271,000-sf project is near the west entrance of campus on Stadium Road and adjacent to the 315-unit graduate student housing complex it will serve.

The five-level, cast-in-place facility was designed by Harley Ellis Devereaux of Los Angeles. The structure's site was previously home to athletic fields.
