According to company vice president Dan Delforge, the entire two-building renovation will be completed by August 2010. He tells GlobeSt.com that in addition to building out four floors in one of the buildings, which will be used as the Willowchase Campus, the renovation also includes an upgrade of miscellaneous common areas to the adjacent building, and code upgrades to both structures. The buildings will also be used for administrative purposes. Kirksey Architecture and VLK Architects are providing the architectural services.
"The buildings are in great shape," Deforge adds. "They were occupied by Compaq (which was bought out by Hewlett-Packard) until last year. Other than having to add stairwells due to increased occupancy, there isn't much more going on."
Lone Star College System acquired the Hewlett-Packard Campus last May. The master plan calls for a University Center that will ultimately involve collaboration between several area colleges as well as potential non-educational commercial real estate use.
